Completly agree Hawkslore. rather than the mcg or tassie//cause i think once its wet weather footy our running game appears to go out the window!!MORE DOME GAMES REQUIRED IN WINTER FOR HAWKS// once the pre seasons mount up for the young hawkers it probably wont be much of a problem, but i guess at present we are definitley playing to our strengths!!no more soggy wet HUNGRY HARDENED OPPOSITION//then we shall be sweet!!it seemed like the crows had a spare man in defencea spare man in midfielda spare man in the foward lineevery time the ball came to us we were out numbered, so maybe clarko never had a plan b ,becuase this happed all nightbut by saying that i realy dont think the guys were switched on wich it seems to be a very poor atitude to have considering we just won our last two games and one was againts the pies in a simliar game as the crows.Originally Posted by medusalaI can't see the logic that a 25yr old is necessarily going to understand something better than an 18yr old. rather than the mcg or tassie//cause i think once its wet weather footy our running game appears to go out the window!!MORE DOME GAMES REQUIRED IN WINTER FOR HAWKS// once the pre seasons mount up for the young hawkers it probably wont be much of a problem, but i guess at present we are definitley playing to our strengths!!no more soggy wet HUNGRY HARDENED OPPOSITION//then we shall be sweet!!You have to play in any conditions .Will we learn and create an alternative gameplan, or are we still 'too young' to adapt as yet?Could it be that our forward line set up just wasn't any good in the wet.Originally Posted by philhawkWill we learn and create an alternative gameplan, or are we still 'too young' to adapt as yet?I can't see the logic that a 25yr old is necessarily going to understand something better than an 18yr old.Originally Posted by shottaCould it be that our forward line set up just wasn't any good in the wet.Pfft Dome..Compare that to someone like Birchall, who I believe just doesn't have the experience to do this. However our record over the bass does also suggest we can adapt when we are famaliar with the ground, weather is not necessarily the be all and end all. worst ground in the league. Running game is one of our strengths. I truelly beleive that a dry open day would have seen the Crows running out of steam ,this being the case, maybe, I think we can look forward with confidance BUT we must not let ourselves down again in the rain.sorry got carried away from this thread.Originally Posted by brookers were so far ahead of where any of us thought we would be so dont get to disheartened with experience will bring more pre seasons which will mean more conditioned bodys meaning we'll do what adelaide did to us in afew years time i dont think there anything to worry about remember were the only team yet to lose 2 in a row so back the boys in to bounce back.We all know the media have a short term view last week they were saying we'd made it now there saying were to young, the sign of a good side is how they come back from this, i dont think we can win it this year but its imperative we dont just fade out i think it would be great to get in the top4 the young fellas to experience at least a couple of high pressure finals if u do make it who knows what could happen. The commentators harped on about it last weekend, and despite not seeing it in the first half, it suddenly hit me in the second half that they were actually speaking sense. I would suggest that Mitchell would/should have more confidence in his own ability and thus be more likely not to go in to his shell.Originally Posted by hawksloreAgree i think the bigger and dryer the ground the more suited we are!!also since that game at the telstra dome last year, think it was round 20 gainst bombers when we broke record for most goals in first half at the dome!i believe the way we play, the dome could be our new ground which suits us to a tee.Agree i think the bigger and dryer the ground the more suited we are!!also since that game at the telstra dome last year, think it was round 20 gainst bombers when we broke record for most goals in first half at the dome!i believe the way we play, the dome could be our new ground which suits us to a tee.I would disagree with that. We have shown this year that consistancy is in part one cornerstone of building this great team back to great heights. I don't know the stats, but i'd imagine out of all clubs in the AFL, we use the centre corridor the most.Well, IMO I reckon a player like Mitchell who's been in the system longer and learnt how to play different styles of footy (through experience) will be able to change tack and play a different style of footy if one doesn't work. More dome action will garantee we utilise this part of our game.We do take the ball through the coridor but i dont think the most, i think were most dangerous when we spread switch the play generate our run from behind which these teams haven't aloud us to do.obviously a 25 year old would have experienced alot more footy meaning his played in every possible sought of game a young bloke wouldn't of experienced the pressure that adelaide put on, also the young imature bodys mean we cant beat an adelaide in around the packs on wet sloggy nite meaning we need to try free it up in 2 years time when were more hardened we'll be fine. Why don't we just play down in Tassie where we have a superior winloss record!!Originally Posted by philhawkWell, IMO I reckon a player like Mitchell who's been in the system longer and learnt how to play different styles of footy (through experience) will be able to change tack and play a different style of footy if one doesn't work.good work i never realised that, so why dont the media come and say that .Adelaide and Sydney have proven in the past how clogging the middle can really put a dampener on our run and really restrict our gameplan. That said, last weekend probably added alot to young Birch's learning curve. Our whole gameplan is totally not designed for wet weather.this is what i thinkclarko never wanted to win this game, because the media wre puting too much pressure on us and wouldnt be good for the kids to get over confidant and the fact he put josh nogood in tells me he had no plan b. The wet weather does not allow us to carry the ball as we would like.BTW best for Hawthorn in Hun:Hawthorn: R Ladson S Crawford B McGlynn G Birchall J Lewis. I think thats what caused the blowout and in the dry we would have at least excecuted alot better when we did get a chance. The Adelaide game was a lesson for us, if we learn from it we will be fine, if we don't then we're in trouble on wet days .remember its only one loss were so far ahead of where any of us thought we would be so dont get to disheartened with experience will bring more pre seasons which will mean more conditioned bodys meaning we'll do what adelaide did to us in afew years time i dont think there anything to worry about remember were the only team yet to lose 2 in a row so back the boys in to bounce back.Compare that to someone like Birchall, who I believe just doesn't have the experience to do this. Our whole gameplan is totally not designed for wet weather. In many recent big losses its the experienced players who have gone missing. Every time we get the ball off the backline, we direct the ball towards the middle allowing 'Buddy's Box' to spread from there and present options.I dont think its experience, merely confidence (and often physical presence). Ill only worry if performances like that become regular. I think thats what caused the blowout and in the dry we would have at least excecuted alot better when we did get a chance.
